meet our therapists

I trained as a psychotherapist between 1988 and 1991 in St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Department of Psychological Medicine and Goldsmiths' College University of London (through which I registered as a UKCP Psychotherapist).

During over 20 years as a psychotherapist I have worked freelance in a range of public and private health and education services. As well as being a psychotherapist in private practice, I am a lecturer/trainer in two university based creative arts therapy training.

I have substantial experience working in the adult outpatient field and of working with challenging teenagers and their families. Before moving to Barcelona in 1999, I was a Professional Member, secretary and Professional Development Committee member of the British Association of Group Psychotherapists and Chair of the Goldsmiths' Association of Group Psychotherapists. Since 2014, I have been editor of Group Analytic Contexts. I am also a member of the board of the Group Analytic Society International.

As a psychotherapist, I seek to engage the person or people who employ his services in an open, serious and reflective conversation about themselves and ourselves. Although I specialize in the psychodynamic and group analytic approaches to psychotherapy, my approach is essentially eclectic, pragmatic and flexible, grounded in a broad base of theory and practice and the belief that individuals are social through and through. This means that whether working with individuals or groups I help people focus on the relationship, family and community roots of their difficulties. I believe that many of the difficulties that bring people into psychotherapy are deeply linked to difficulties in our wider society.
