I am an accredited psychotherapist by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am currently practicing privately and leads a cardiac rehabilitation unit of a heart hospital on a part-time basis. I have a degree in Applied Psychology, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma and a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Liverpool John Moores University. I am currently finishing my Doctorate Training by the British Psychological Society in Counselling Psychology.
My professional identity and practice reflects the philosophy of counselling psychology focusing on humanistic ideas, with the emphasis on well-being in the here and now, rather than ideas of the diagnostic categorisation of illness and disorders as derived from a ‘medical model' perspective. My approach to psychological treatment is to recognise the importance of individual care while implementing evidence-based therapy in accordance to clients’ needs. My core model is Person-Centred, and developed a knowledge in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play-Therapy, Meaning-Centred therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfullness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I have practiced in primary, secondary and community sectors of the National Health Service , and within educational settings. My overall therapeutic experience is diverse: Eating disorder clinic (age: 13-60), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (age: 3-18), Adult Mental Health (age: 18-), School Counselling (age: 13-18),Cardiac Rehabilitation and Cancer Care (age: 18-), Private Practice (age: 3-). My clinical experience involves a range of issues: bereavement, family disruption, physical illness, chronic long-term conditions, abuse, self-harm, PTSD, depression, anxiety, cultural issues and all aspects of trauma. I have a special interest in eating disorders (cardiovascular ) disease , stress, health and prevention in general. During my work I have provided supervision, individual and group psychotherapy and strictly follows the Ethical Guidelines of the BACP and BPS. I am practicing in English and Hungarian and can speak German.
